The new Yankee Stadium (2009) is a mixture of old and new. In large part, it is a re-creation of “The House That Ruth Built,” which was built in 1923. It includes many of the signature features such as Monument Park and the decorative architecture. By doing this, they hoped they would be able to transfer some of the more intangible aspects of the old stadium – the so-called ghosts.
Although the walls are shorter, the dimensions match the older park (318/399/408/385/314 from left to right). The area behind the plate has been reduced, however, which should have a slight impact in favour of offense.

As a hitter’s ballpark, ESPN ranks Yankee Stadium #3. In 2010, Yankee Stadium ranked #2 in total runs scored per game for both teams with 10.31. Only Coors Field, Colorado, allowed more runs (10.59).
